On 18 December 2014,Yerevan hosted the presentation of Lithuanian Music CD Mikalojus Čiurlionis and Balys Dvarionas by Hayk Melikyan, pianist, Honored Artist of Armenia
The concert/presentation was organised by the support of the Embassy of Lithuania to Armenia as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia.
The concert soloist is internationally renown Armenian pianist Hayk Melikyan, an Honored artist of the Republic of Armenia who presented Lithuanian outstanding composers to the Yerevan audience at the National Gallery of Armenia. The solo album of Lithuanian music was released within the “Embassy CD Series” initiative by the pianist, two other CDs, Swiss and Polish have been released before this.
As a reminder, exactly a year ago a special concert was organized in Armenia dedicated to the 20th Century and Contemporary music of the Baltic states within the 1900+ World Piano Music Series (www.1900plus.org). The latter aims to present the piano music (composed after the year of 1900) of different nations to the Armenian audience. It was launched in 2009 and Russian, French, Japanese, Polish, Swiss, American, German and Italian concerts have been organised since then.
Hayk Melikyan is recognized internationally as one of the most versatile and imaginative performers of the 20th Century and Contemporary Music and among today's most engaging virtuoso pianists by classical music audiences and critics. His international concert début took place at the Concerto di Concerti International Festival of the 20th Century Music in Rome in 2000. He leads an active concert life, playing throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.
