The Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia (FYCA), which is the largest youth organization in Armenia, had organized a charity initiative that helped refugee and repatriate families in the Darbnik village of Ararat Province on December 22, 2014.

Darbnik is a small village with a population of 1,400, of which 90% are Syrian-Armenian, Iraqi-Armenian and Azerbaijani-Armenian families having taken shelter in Armenia. After facing difficulties and living in danger, these people have finally settled in the Homeland. They live in unfavorable conditions, lack the necessary conditions and face a problem with transportation. In addition, the refugee families of Darbnik also have a problem with integration into social and civic life. The Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia has organized the “United hands: Darbnik” charity initiative with the desire to mitigate the worries of refugee families to a certain extent before the New Year. More than 17 boxes of clothes, 7 boxes toys, as well as pastry and writing accessories and first-need materials.

“I want to thank the Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia. The organization has visited our village for the second time and expressed its support to the families in need”, - mentioned the Head of the Municipality of Darbnik Village, Mr. Davit Gziryan.  

“Darbnik children's Christmas event was full of the spirit of patriotism and was the best compensation to our volunteers and many benefactors of this work”, - admitted the President of Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia, Mr. Atom Mkhitaryan and added that they are in their Homeland now and can give patriotic lessons to many many people by their own examples.

The World Armenian Youth Network (WostAYN), “Armenian PR Association” scientific-informational NGO, the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese, the Youth Club of Charentsavan, “Barekamutyun” NGO, the International Women’s Association of Yerevan, as well as several individuals from Armenia and the Diaspora expressed their support to the initiative.
