On April 20, at 16.00 the exhibition called “Cultural genocide: symbol of khachkars” opens in the park at the junction of Nalbandyan and Hanrapetutyan streets of Main avenue. The copies of 12 destroyed khachkars recreated by contemporary master of khachkars Artak Hambardzumyan are exhibited. The master recreated the khachkars basing on centuries-old traditions of Armenian khachkar makers. More than 4500 khachkars of Old Julfa met the same fate as Western Armenian monuments. They were completely ruined in 2005 by the Azerbaijan army. Some photos of Armenian temples and castles in their past and present look will be presented within the frames of the exhibition.
