During the first meeting of the 5th session of the Council of Elders of Yerevan, after confirmation of the agenda and formation of the counting commission, unanimously approved of the draft decisions on placement of memorial boards commemorating the professor, Doctor of History Science, member-correspondent of the RA National Academy of Science Babken Harutyunyan; the outstanding statesman, honorary engineer Artem Gevorgyan, as well as the writer, publicist, translator Samvel Mkrtchyan.
The Council of Elders also approved of the draft decisions on allotting the right for property tax privilege to some creative unions and NGOs.
By the decision of the Council of Elders some changes were made in the budget of Yerevan according to which the funding of the program “Installation of wheelchair ramps on buses” has increased by AMD 30 million and made up AMD 60 million. AMD 200 million was disbursed for debt discharge of medical establishments subordinated to the Municipality of Yerevan, AMD 50 million was disbursed for the program of complex restoration of the Zoological garden. AMD 20 million is to be allotted to chess schools for property purchasing, and about AMD 7 million is to be directed at repairing of the Museum of F.Nansen.
The rest issues included in the agenda have also been approved by the Council of Elders.
At the end of the meeting at the suggestion of Mayor Taron Margaryan, the member of the RPA faction of the Council of Elders, the director of the museum –institute of the Armenian genocide Hayk Demoyan presented the member of the Council the list of the events provided within the frames of the program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
The next meeting of the Council of Elders of Yerevan is to be called on March 18.
