Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the Mayor of Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Akel Biltaji planted a 140-year olive tree in the area adjacent to the Yerevan History Museum.
The Mayor of Amman noted that this olive-tree has a special meaning for Armenia as the first country to adopt Christianity as the state religion as it was brought from the bank of the river Jordan where Jesus Christ was baptized. He also expressed confidence that the olive tree would become a special symbol of the cooperation established between Yerevan and Amman.
Accompanied by Yerevan Taron Margaryan Akej Biltaji walked about the foyer of the Municipality of Yerevan, familiarized himself with the samples of the exhibition "I remember and demand. Rebirth”. Taron Margaryan stressed that that the aim of this exhibition opened within the frames of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is to present the city of Yerevan before 1915 and after it including the materials related to creation of shelters for refugees, elimination of the consequences of the greatest disaster, reconstruction and rebirth of Yerevan.
