Stepanakert—Raffi K. Hovannisian was in the Mountainous Karabagh Republic on April 26-27 on a working visit. He was received by President Bako Sahakyan for a full discussion of the military, political, and domestic challenges facing Artsakh, Armenia, and the entire nation. During that meeting, Defense Minister General Lyova Mnatsakanyan provided a briefing on the current strategic situation.
Raffi Hovannisian also made calls on the National Assembly and the Union of Volunteers. He then visited the region of Martakert which had been shelled by Azerbaijani forces in the early hours of April 26. He conferred with the region's governor Vladik Khachatryan, town residents, refugees from the village of Talish which had been destroyed and inhumanely emptied earlier this month (including ISIS-style beheadings), as well as soldiers and commanders along the front lines between Artsakh and Azerbaijan.
Hovannisian was accompanied by Heritage Party deputy chairman Armen Martirosyan.
